Walt Anderson has been a football official for 45 years and is entering his 24thyear as an NFL Referee and is one of the most recognized football officials in the country. He began his officiating career working little league and high school games in and around Houston, moved to working college games in the Southland and Southwest Conferences before being hired by the NFL in 1996. While in the NFL, he has worked 20 playoff games, including 2 Super Bowls: 35 and 45, 5 Championships, 6 Divisional and 7 Wild Card games. In addition to his NFL duties, he served for 12 years (2006-2018) as the Coordinator of Football Officials for the Big 12 Conference and the CFO West, and created the 8thofficial mechanics which are now used by all Division I conferences.
Trained as a dentist, he started one of the largest and well-known group practices in Houston, with 13 doctors and 45 employees. Because of the time commitments of the NFL, he sold his practice in 2000 to dedicate his full time and attention as an NFL Referee and College Coordinator. Today he is one of the most successful and recognized Referees in the country.
He is married to Afshan, who is also a dentist/skin consultant and works out of her Westchase/Memorial office; they have five children, 4 boys and 1 girl, and reside in Sugar Land, TX.
