Dick DeGuerin
Dick is a lawyer who got his start as an Assistant District Attorney in Houston in 1965, putting people in jail, but since 1968 has practiced criminal defense in Houston and around the country, getting people out of jail. In other words, he has fully recovered from being a prosecutor.
After working with famed defense lawyer Percy Foreman, Dick formed his own firm, DeGuerin and Dickson in 1982. He has defended a wide variety of high profile clients, from judges, politicians, and celebrities to just plain folks accused of everything from murder to prostitution. He represented David Koresh during the siege in Waco, Senator Kay Bailey Hutchinson, Congressman Tom DeLay, Billionaire Robert Durst, and other newsworthy folks, as well as many less noted cases. Most recently he was lead counsel for the inpeachment Trial of Attorney General Ken Paxton in the Senate. He came in second. Dick maintains his primary office in Houston and is Of Counsel with Liz Rogers and Shane O'Neill in Alpine.
In addition to his active practice, Mr DeGuerin has been an adjunct Professor of Law at the University of Texas School of Law in Austin since 1994. He is also a Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers and the American Board of Criminal Lawyers, as well as other professional organizations.
